A.  What are the basic needs of sheep?   For non-breeding animals:

1. Shelter with good ventilation
2. Pasture, hay and grain/pellets
3. Fresh water
4. Salt
5. Shearing 
6. Hoof trimming
7. Worming/parasite control
8. Vaccinations
9. Vet care as needed.

and...
10. Kind and competent ownership
11. Company.  These are flock animals -- keep at least two.

If you've taken care of horses or cattle, this should look very familiar, except for the shearing.  

If you are serious about keeping a small flock, read the sheep books (which go into detail about the things listed above), and talk to sheep people and your large animal vet.
